Understanding trends and changes in erosion rates for coastal locations is important for informing coastal management and planning activities. The Earth Systems and Climate Change Hub is investigating shoreline change in Victoria through the National Centre for Coasts and Climate. Historic shoreline change for nine coastal areas in Victoria was investigated, with results summarised in a series of location-based fact sheets.
The National Centre for Coasts and Climate, through the Earth Systems and Climate Change Hub, has undertaken research to improve knowledge and resources on blue carbon ecosystems, coastal erosion and eco-engineering coastal defence solutions.
In this webinar, Associate Professor David Kennedy discusses the current state of knowledge on beach and dune landform dynamics. He also draws on a range of examples from around Australia exploring the decadal timescales on which beaches operate and how this impacts coastal erosion management decisions.
