Private companies, peak bodies, consultants
Impacts of climate change on the private sector will vary, depending on the nature of businesses and their degree of exposure. Assessing climate-related risk, both direct risk (such as property damage from extreme climate events) and indirect risk (such as disruption to supply chains), is a critical element of corporate governance and business planning.
As a result of the ESCC Hub’s research, the private sector will be able to access science-based evidence to inform climate hazard, vulnerability and risk assessments.
Our science will enable the development of tailored, application-ready datasets that are expanded, more comprehensive and integrated over finer (spatial and temporal) scales than those that are currently available. Different sectors will also be able to access climate sensitive guidance materials for setting sector-based accredited standards, such as building codes and engineering design specifications.
