CASE STUDY 5.3: TasLab Engage
Climate information and forecasts on the multi-year to decadal timescales would benefit many Australian sectors and industries, including agriculture, horticulture and water management. However, this is still an emerging area of global and Australian science capability.
To better understand the climate information needs in Tasmania, we’ve supported TasLab Engage, an initiative to facilitate engagement between industry groups and scientists to understand industry-specific climate sensitivities and identify the relevant climate information required.
Under this initiative, we’ve worked with CSIRO’s Decadal Climate Forecasting Project to collect valuable Tasmanian stakeholder information that will contribute to the development of multi-year to decadal forecasts for Australia. Climate information on these timescales will assist many industries with long-term operational planning, allowing for better risk identification and decision making.
